Utilizing Blockchain Technology, IPB Press Collaborates with iBantu for Literacy Sector
Located at the IPB Press Office in the Science Techno Park Taman Kencana area, IPB Press signed a blockchain management cooperation for joint publishing with iBantu, a company from Singapore.
“This cooperation is carried out because it sees the level of security and the great opportunity for utilizing blockchain technology in Indonesia. The publishing world is closely related to industrial management, intellectual property, which inevitably has to deal with piracy,” said Director of IPB Press, Erick Wahyudyono.
Erick considered that the cooperation in utilizing blockchain technology in the publishing sector could open up opportunities to improve issues related to this. “The existence of blockchain technology in the publishing industry can provide several benefits related to distribution transparency and security in intellectual property and piracy,” he said.
“Blockchain is expected to provide facilities for readers to track the authenticity of the content or books they buy. This can also be an appreciation by the author that publishers and readers are very focused and eager to maintain intellectual property and avoid piracy. Blockchain that has a unique code can also help the accuracy of stock and sales,” said Erick.
He explained that the existence of blockchain in Indonesia and in the book sector has not been widely developed or used by the general public, so education is needed regarding information on the process and workflow of utilizing blockchain technology.
“Education on the importance of maintaining intellectual property is what IPB Press is concerned about to start this collaboration. The importance of maintaining intellectual property is expected to be a pride for all actors and stakeholders of the publishing world, both publishers, writers and readers,” he said.
Erick continued, in addition to pride, financial benefits will be obtained because of the reduced potential for piracy. This will have a positive impact on revenue management for publishing which will affect royalty income for authors as copyright owners.
“iBantu is a company that focuses on the financial sector and a Web 3.0 Blockchain technology partner, so it is committed to supporting individuals, businesses and organizations to succeed with innovative financial solutions,” Erick said.
He said, IPB Press as a publishing actor hopes that this collaboration will bring positive things for the advancement of the world of literacy by utilizing technology that will continue to develop as one of its efforts to provide innovation.
“Hopefully with this collaboration, the development of the world of literacy in Indonesia will continue to advance and become an industry that can provide benefits to the general public and its stakeholders,” he concluded. (*/Lp) (NYS)
