This Study Program at IPB University is Perfect for You Who Like to Explore Biodiversity
Do you like to explore biodiversity resources or adventure through the forest? It could be that you are very suitable to enter the Study Program (Prodi) Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism (KSHE) at IPB University.
KSHE Study Program of IPB University is under the Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Fahutan). This study program is the first in Indonesia and is a trendsetter for the national conservation program.
This study program has a mandate to develop science and technology in forest resource conservation and ecotourism, which includes protection of life support systems, preservation and utilization of biodiversity, as well as ecotourism and environmental services.
There are many things that students in this study program will learn about the broad scope of forestry. This study program focuses on studying the world of conservation by applying three pillars, namely protection, preservation, and utilization. Of course, this goal is inseparable from plants and wildlife.
“We will find many things when we enter this program, such as getting to know plants and wildlife that are protected or not. We can also enjoy the atmosphere of the forest. I experienced this by carrying out conservation field practice in the Mount Halimun forest for 34 days,” said Muhamad Adhan, a KSHE IPB University 8th-semester student.
During semester 6, students will also choose a scientific division according to their interests. There are five scientific divisions, namely the Division of Wildlife Ecology and Management, the Division of Nature Recreation and Ecotourism, the Division of Conservation Area Management, the Division of Environmental Analysis and Geo-Spatial Modeling, and the Division of Bioprospection and Tropical Plant Conservation.
In addition to being nationally accredited by the National Accreditation Body for Higher Education (BAN-PT), this study program also received international accreditation from ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and the Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN).
Many KSHE IPB University alumni have taken part and are widely spread, including the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), researchers at various research institutions, lecturers, private companies, national and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), forestry consultants, and even entrepreneurs.
Some KSHE IPB University alumni who have been successful include Nunu Anugrah (Director of Species and Genetic Biodiversity Conservation, KLHK), Rahayu Oktavian (founder and chairman of the Nusantara Natural Ecosystem Conservation Foundation), Exist In Exist (Corporate Secretary and Corporate Communication Manager, PT Widodo Makmur Perkasa Tbk), and Edhi Yansyah (owner of Lalelkai Nature Lodge Misool, Raja Ampat).
