One of the undergraduate study programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at IPB University is Biology. Since its opening in 1982, this study program has transformed into one of the quality study programs in Indonesia and has proven its high dedication to improving the standard of biology education.

The achievements of IPB University’s Biology Study Program can be seen in the national accreditation by The Independent Accreditation Institution for Science and Mathematics (LAMSAMA) with the status of ‘Superior’. The excellence of this study program is further strengthened by two international accreditations, namely from the Asean University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and The Accreditation Agency for Study Programmes in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN).

This study program consistently develops biological knowledge, especially in the field of tropical biosciences, that is recognized by the scientific community, both at the national and international levels. This is done through research activities and publication of research results in national and international journals.

Not only that, the Biology Study Program has a big role in the scientific development of other fields at IPB University, such as agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries, and forestry. This shows that the Biology Study Program of IPB University not only studies the science of the state and nature of living things but also has a real impact on supporting vital sectors in Indonesia.
