Welcoming New Students for Even Semester 2023/2024, IPB University Graduate School Holds Public Lecture

The Postgraduate School (SPs) of IPB University held a Public Lecture to welcome new students for the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM), Dramaga Campus (13/1). The public lecture was attended by new students of doctoral, master and professional engineer programmes.

Prof Agus Buono, Vice Dean of SPs IPB University for Academic and Student Affairs in his opening speech welcomed the new students of SPs IPB University. In the even semester of this year, there were 465 students who had registered and verified at SPs IPB University.

“The number of new students in this semester compared to the even semester last year has increased, both those who registered in the regular pathway, special organised classes and pathways by research,” he added.

Prof Agus added, currently the total number of SPs IPB University students in the 2023/2024 academic year is 6,731 active students. “The number of students is spread over 56 master study programmes and 47 doctoral study programmes at SPs IPB University,” he added.

Prof Agus explained that SPs IPB University has a long history since its establishment. Starting from when it was still not formally structured in the period before 1975 to structured as it is today. He explained, in the current era of globalisation, the internationalisation of higher education, among others, through the mobility of students and lecturers, both joint degrees, double degrees and others.

“SPs IPB University encourages and facilitates students to participate in international programmes that have been established,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat, Dean of SPs IPB University as well as the speaker in this public lecture delivered the theme of Potential Research on Carbon Trading and Environmental Services for Postgraduate Students. In his explanation, he conveyed the fundamentals and potential of carbon trading research in which there are policy research, methodological research, modelling research and action research.

“In theory, what is traded in carbon trading has several functions. Namely carbon sequestration, carbon storage function and carbon reserve function,” he explained.

“The philosophy of climate change control policy is in accordance with the constitutional mandate, following the scientific approaches and meeting emission reduction targets,” he added.

The SPs IPB University Public Lecture was followed by an explanation of general and financial administration by Prof Titi Candra Sunarti, academic and student affairs by Prof Agus Buono, education and student affairs administration by Farchaini Budi Astuti, SP, MM, information and digital transformation by Dean Apriana Ramadhan, SKom, MKom and discourse forum activities by Muamar Kadafin, SHut.
