Providing Assistance, IPB University Answers Calina Papaya Farmers’ Complaints in Mekarharja Village
The Directorate of Agromaritime Community Development (DPMA) of IPB University conducted mentoring activities in an effort to improve the quality and quantity of calina papaya yields in Mekarharja Village, Banjar, West Java. This was done by IPB University to answer the various complaints of calina farmers in the village.
This assistance was represented by Danang Aria Nugroho, SE, MSi as Supervisor of Agromaritime Services and Digital Farming DPMA IPB University together with Koswara, SE and a team from the Faculty of Agriculture. The IPB University team provides standardized operational procedures (POB) support to farmers to improve crop yields and agricultural efficiency.
“This activity is a form of DPMA IPB’s contribution in supporting calina papaya farmers in Banjar City which is a positive step to optimize the potential of local agriculture and improve the welfare of farmers,” said Danang.
DPMA IPB University and the team went directly to the field to answer farmers’ concerns about efficient fertilization, pest and disease management, and better marketing strategies.
The mentoring covers various aspects, from cultivation techniques to pest and disease management in calina papaya. Through a series of assistance, DPMA IPB seeks to introduce innovations in agriculture to farmers.
“In addition, IPB University also facilitates farmers’ access to resources such as superior seeds or seedlings, biological agents, and pesticides to support sustainable agriculture,” said Danang. (*/Rz) (NYS)
