IPB University welcomes 182 participants of the Batch 4 Independent Student Exchange Programme in 2024
IPB University returns to receive students for the Independent Student Exchange Programme (PMM). This activity took place in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, IPB Dramaga Campus (21/1).
PMM students accepted at IPB University consist of 60 vocational students and 122 undergraduate students. They came from 48 universities in various regions in Indonesia.
Coordinator of PMM IPB University Batch 4, Dr Utami Dyah Syafitri said, the PMM programme provides opportunities for students to develop their creativity, capacity and personality. In addition, this programme is also to increase student independence in discovering knowledge through field experience.
“The experiences that PMM students will gain are social interaction, collaboration, self-management and real problem solving,” she said.
Dr Utami continued, in the implementation of this PMM there is an Nusantara Module activity which is held for 16 meetings. This module presents a comprehensive understanding of diversity, national insight and love for the country.
“There are four submodules, namely material on diversity, inspiration, reflection and social contribution that will be studied,” explained the Director of Education Administration of IPB University.
Vice Rector of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana revealed, this PMM programme provides extraordinary benefits, such as the opportunity to introduce intercultural diversity.
According to him, IPB University became a unique learning place for students about science, art and tolerance. Not only that, they can also get to know about tourism and Bogor’s culinary potential.
“Friends are here until the end of June. This is a golden opportunity to gain valuable experience and expand social networks during the study period at IPB University,” he said.
One of IPB University’s Nusantara Module lecturers, Muhammad Baihaqi SPt, MSc said, the Nusantara Module programme was designed to provide knowledge and culture, one of which was carried out with a visit to a Sundanese traditional village to introduce diversity in Bogor.
“There is also a social contribution programme that focuses on community development. This is a concrete step in building sustainable relationships with the surrounding community,” he explained.
Putri Nabilla, a student of Politeknik Pertanian Negeri Payakumbuh, expressed her excitement when she was accepted as a PMM student at IPB University campus.
“I hope to improve my confidence and make a positive contribution to others. I am ready to undergo this one-semester educational journey,” she said. (dr/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
