IPB University’s Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKNT) students held a halal certification assistance programme for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). The activity is in collaboration with the Bogor Regency Cooperative and MSME Office, as well as MSME players in Bojong Rangkas Village, Ciampea in supporting the sustainability of micro businesses by emphasising the halal aspects of products.

The mentoring activity was held on Monday, 8/1 at the Bojong Rangkas Village Office which was attended by local MSME players, representatives of the Bogor Cooperative and MSME Office, and village officials in Bojong Rangkas. The activity aims to provide in-depth understanding to MSME players about the importance of halal certification in increasing the competitiveness of competitive products in the market.

Rendi Kurniawan, Bojong Rangkas Village Coordinator, explained that the main objective of this work programme is to increase the awareness and knowledge of MSME players regarding the halal certification process and the Business Identification Number (NIB).

“Through this assistance, we hope to help MSMEs to understand and go through the halal certification process more easily, so that their products can gain more consumer confidence,” he said.

In addition, Adi, one of the team from the Cooperative and MSME Agency of Bogor Regency, gave full support to the proactive steps of KKNT-Innovation IPB University students. Adi stated that this collaboration is a clear example of the synergy between the world of education and government in supporting the development of MSMEs in the region.

“We hope that this programme will not only provide direct benefits for MSME players, but also open the door for further cooperation between universities, local governments and small businesses to advance the MSME sector at the local level,” he said.

The activity was followed by halal certification assistance so that the Bojong Rangkas village food MSMEs can obtain halal certification. In addition to gaining new knowledge, MSME players are also directly assisted by the Bogor Cooperative and MSME Office to make NIB as a starting point in obtaining other permits, including halal certification.
