IPB University Innovation KKN-T Students Together with Posyantek Hold Basic Goat Health Checking Training for Farmers
Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-T) IPB University students held a basic goat health check training with the Appropriate Technology Service Post (Posyantek) Team in Dramaga Village, Bogor in an effort to minimize the death of livestock goats through first aid that can be done independently by farmers.
Through this activity, farmers can check the health of goats independently to find out the condition of the goats and the right help that can be given.
Budi Hartadi, Secretary of Dramaga Village conveyed the problems experienced by goat farmers, “In the last few months there were three goats that died without any known cause,” said Budi.
Siti Nur Amelia Agustina, Student of Innovation KKN-T IPB University revealed that the initial socialization was carried out by educating farmers in checking the condition of goats.
“During the visit, there were goats that were dehydrated and had scab disease caused by a virus. We provided information on goat treatment using herbal medicines such as coconut oil, green coconut water, turmeric water in handling goat health problems,” said Siti.
He continued, the training invited a positive response from goat farmers who practiced directly in checking the condition of goats independently.
Ali, Chairman of Posyantek gave full support to the proactive steps of IPB University students in Dramaga Village. Ali said that this program was a positive step in basic education to farmers to be more aware of the condition of their goats.
“Hopefully, through this program, no livestock will be affected by disease, because farmers already know the general conditions that may be experienced by goats and their handling so that goats can grow healthy and fat,” he said. (*/Lp) (IAAS/HLF)
