The Lecturer of IPB University Vocational School Educates the Residents of Buduan Village, Situbondo about Urban Farming and Digital Marketing
Facing the challenges of marketing strategies in the digital technology development era, IPB University Vocational School lecturers came to Buduan Village, Suboh District, Situbondo Regency, East Java to conduct community service activities.
Through the Lecturer Mengabdi Inovasi program, the IPB University Vocational School lecturer team explained the application of urban farming and digital marketing in an effort to improve the household economy.
The team leader, Henny Rusmiati, SP, MSi, a lecturer of IPB University Vocational School from the Seed Industry Technology Study Program explained urban farming using the hydroponic method. She also introduced various varieties of plants researched by IPB University lecturers that can be planted in the yard.
“The participants are expected to get in-depth insights on how to utilize narrow land effectively to increase the income of the community in Buduan Village,” Henny said.
Furthermore, Dr Doni Sahat Tua Manalu, a member of the Lecturer Mengabdi Inovasi team said, “IPB University Vocational School is present for Buduan Village to provide digital marketing training. This activity is expected to help the community, especially the women of Buduan Village in developing understanding and applying innovations related to urban farming and digital marketing,” he said.
The digital marketing counseling aims to provide in-depth insight into online marketing strategies, digital optimization techniques and the importance of online presence in increasing business competitiveness.
“We are very happy and honored by the presence of lecturers and students of IPB University Vocational School. We hope this activity can run smoothly and also be sustainable because the community needs attention from the campus environment to help the community in applying the technology and knowledge they have,” said Haryadi, a representative from Buduan Village.
Furthermore, Suci as the staff of the Buduan Village Government, Situbondo outlined that community service activities from IPB University Vocational School are always awaited by the community. He hopes that the digital marketing training can also provide progress for Buduan Village.
“We are very happy and grateful for being given the opportunity to gain a lot of knowledge, information and technology through this Lecturer Mengabdi Inovasi activity,” said Mirna, one of the residents of Buduan Village.
Dr Doni said that marketplace platforms in Indonesia can be used as a bridge to reach more buyers. This can also increase sales in Buduan Village.
“In this era, it’s even simpler to sell, for example, mothers cook stews, so the results of the cooking can just be posted on social media or via WhatsApp. Well, that is included in the utilization of social media in digital marketing,” said Heny. (*/Rz) (IAAS/MKY)
