The School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) IPB University again held a reinforcement of veterinary student learning materials. This activity was held in collaboration with the Indonesian Veterinary Faculty Association (AFKHI) with the Indonesia Australia Red Meat and Cattle Partnership (IARMCP).
The training activity was themed Control and Management of Livestock Disease Outbreaks in the Indonesian Cattle Farming Sector. The activity was attended by students of Professional Veterinary Education (PPDH) which was held at the Transformation Hall, IPB Dramaga Campus, on Thursday 14/12.
“PPDH students as prospective veterinarians need to be equipped with knowledge in controlling and overcoming livestock disease outbreaks, especially in the cattle farming sector,” said Dr Amrozi, Dean of SKHB IPB University.
Dr Amrozi continued, this activity involved 45 participants of the PPDH study programme. “This activity is a big bonus and must be utilised as well as possible by the students,” he said.
There was a material presentation, one of which was about the practice of preparing epidemic curves, timelines, mapping with the concept of simulation and case studies facilitated directly by Dr Chaerul Basri, as the chief executive as well as the activity facilitator.
“PPDH students who will soon graduate as veterinarians certainly need this kind of training so that they are always ready when faced with an outbreak when they go directly to the field later,” said Chaerul.
The training agenda and delivery of other materials such as Introduction to Outbreak Investigation and its Stages were delivered directly by Dr Etih Sudarnika. In addition to the presentation of material, training activities were also filled with discussions, practice, making assignments and presentations in groups. Practices carried out include the practice of Participatory Epidemiology (PE) facilitated by Dr Herwin Pisestyani and drh Muhammad Israfii Vernanda. (*/Lp) (IAAS/RUM)
