LKST IPB University Organises Training: The Role of Banking in Supporting Startup Business Development
In order to improve the quality and performance of the Business Incubation programme startups, the Institute of Science and Technology Area (LKST) IPB University, organised training activities with the theme “The Role of Banking in Supporting Startup Development”. The training was attended by 27 startup tenants of LKST IPB University’s business incubation programme at Swissbell Hotel, on 4/12.
The activity aims to increase knowledge, understanding and implementation related to banking programs to support startups, opportunities for marketing cooperation, business investment, and the use of CSR (corporate social responsibility) programs or partnership and environmental development programs (PKBL) from banks for startup incubation.
The activity was opened by the Deputy Head of LKST for Business Incubators and Industrial Partnerships, Prof Rokhani Hasbullah. In his remarks Prof Rokhani said that in developing a business there are at least four things that need to be considered by startup actors.
“The first is from product development to fulfil consumer preferences. Second, startups must be able to manage resources in carrying out their business activities,” he said.
He continued, thirdly, startups need to master marketing channels both offline and online by utilising digital platforms, and fourthly startups that want to move up in class are not enough to rely on their own capital (bootstrapping), but must be able to attract outside investment for business development.
“The purpose of the business incubation programme is to provide comprehensive assistance to all problems so that the business develops and upgrades and provides a real impact on society and the nation’s economic growth,” said Rokhani.
Business Incubator Assistant, Deva Primadia Almada, said that the business incubation programme provided to 27 startups includes a workshop on the preparation of Businnes Model Canvas (BMC), Action Plan and Business Plan, Serial Coaching, Mentoring and Training with various themes according to the needs assessment of startup programme participants.
“Hopefully, through this training that presents speakers from these banking institutions, startups can collaborate and access banking programmes in order to develop their business so that it can help the growth of innovative startups that are resilient and competitive,” said Meidy.
Meidy Ferdiansyah, Vice President (VP) Small Medium Enterprise (SME) Business Project of Bank BSI conveyed some of the roles and programmes of Bank BSI in supporting the development of MSMEs in Indonesia “Bank BSI is ready to support startups assisted by IPB in developing business,” said Meidy.
