IPB University Vocational School Lecturers Empower KWT Women to Process Household Waste

IPB University Vocational School lecturers implemented the Lecturer Serving Innovation program by providing education to mothers who were members of the Women’s Farmers Group (KWT) Pendopo 6, (15/12). The education provided is in the form of material about processing household waste into products with economic value. The activity took place at KWT Pendopo 6 in the Baranangsiang Indah Housing Complex, Katulampa Village, East Bogor District, West Java.

The Lecturer Team Serving Innovation comes from the Agricultural Production Technology and Community Development Study Program (Prodi PPP) IPB University Vocational School.

This activity presented resource person Tutin Maemunah with a presentation of material and a demonstration of making compost fertilizer using a tumbler and vegetable seeding techniques.

“With this event, hopefully, KWT Pendopo 6 can develop better, which usually uses traditional tools and materials. Then you can achieve food security through this program. “Little by little, a small piece of land can become something useful,” said Titun as the resource person.

This activity was attended by he Agricultural Production Technology and Community Development (PPP) Study Program lecturers, namely Tri Budiarto SKPm, MSi; Muhammad Iqbal Nurulhaq SP, MSi; Agief Julio SP, MSi; Leonard Dharmawan SP, MSi; and Widya Hasian Situmeang SKPm, MSi and members of KWT Pendopo 6.

“We enjoy learning together and participating in activities with the women of KWT Pendopo 6. Hopefully what we learn can be a valuable experience for all of us,” said Tri Budiarto as chairman of the committee. He hopes that this activity will be able to have a positive impact on household resilience, which is one of the elements of fulfilling food security.

Chairman of the IPB University PPP Study Program, Muhammad Iqbal Nurulhaq appreciated the team of lecturers who came directly to carry out community service at the KWT 6 pavilion which is located in the middle of the city.

“We can see that currently, agricultural areas are very rare, but it turns out that in the middle of Bogor City, precisely in the Baranangsiang Indah Housing Complex, they can prioritize yards, public facilities which are then used as a means of food security for the community. “Here we can develop and educate together in implementing good agriculture,” he added.

Atik, Chairman of KWT Pendopo 6 also appreciated the Lecturer Serving Innovation program at his place. “I am very grateful to the IPB University Vocational School for providing training on making compost at KWT Pendopo 6. This training really adds to our knowledge as housewives,” she said.

“The hope is that this training can support food security issues. “Whatever is done can be beneficial for everyone, including the women of KWT Pendopo 6.
