Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (PSP3) of IPB University, IPB together with four other universities declared the establishment of the organization of the Strategic Alliance of the Indonesian People’s Empowerment School Management (Agisprina), Saturday (16/12).

The establishment of Agisprina was initiated by academics from IPB University, Kadiri Islamic University (Uniska), Tadulako University (Untad), University of Papua (Unipa) and Fakfak State Polytechnic (Polinef) as well as the Solidarity Association of Alumni of the Indonesian People’s Farming School (SASPRI).

Coincidentally, the five universities represent the Western (IPB University), Central (Untad), and Eastern (Unipa) regions of Indonesia as well as private universities (Uniska) and non-university (Polinef).

“The formation of Agisprina shows that IPB University is no longer alone as the organizer of the SPR participatory learning program in Indonesia. Four other universities have been able to become SPR organizers after obtaining a license from IPB University as the owner of the SPR-1111 Copyright,” explained Prof Muladno, the initiator of SPR.

Prof Muladno, who is also the Chief of PSP3 IPB University, explained that the transfer of institutional innovation SPR-1111 was carried out for the first time on March 16-18, 2022 in Bogor. Then the next would be on December 12-16, 2023 in Bogor. He hoped that the transfer of innovation could continue to be encouraged in the following years.

“It is necessary to increase the number of SPR-organizing universities. That way, efforts to accelerate and multiply educated and consolidated agro maritime people’s communities can be made cheaper, more efficiently, and more easily while maintaining the quality of the alumni,” he explained.

SPR alumni who are members of SASPRI until the end of 2023 have spread across 33 communities located in 12 districts in Indonesia. In 2024, another 10 communities will graduate.

Prof Muladno said SPR-1111 (School of People’s Animal Husbandry), which began on May 6, 2013, continues to develop into a School of People’s Empowerment with several variants, namely SPR-1111 (animal husbandry), SPR-0109A (urban), SPR-0109U (village) and SPR-0301 (agriculture).

“In 2024, a new variant will be born, namely fisheries SPR. It is also possible that plantation SPRs, forestry SPRs, and other SPRs will be formed,” he continued.

On the other hand, said Prof Muladno, the SPR alumni association would also form its solidarity but still in the SASPRI container which transformed into the Indonesian People’s ‘Empowerment’ School Alumni Solidarity.

“These developments indicate that this participatory learning program has been successful and has had a broad impact on the agro-maritime community in Indonesia. The change that occurs is from agro maritime people with traditional individual characters to collective professional characters in congregation,” he said.

In its declaration, Agisprina only focuses on empowering and developing the agro maritime community incorporated in SASPRI to actively participate in realizing food sovereignty in Indonesia.

This declaration will be followed by other essential activities which include the drafting of articles of association (AD-ART) and a number of necessary organizational attributes. Because Agisprina’s organizational pattern is autonomous-coordinative, there is no chairman.

“For the first time, IPB University became the Secretary General of Agisprina, while four other universities each became the coordinator of the alliance in the field of tetrahelix development, the alliance in the field of research area development and technological innovation, the alliance in the field of science and technology development and the alliance in the field of creative economic development. Congratulations and success for Agisprina in Indonesia,” concluded Prof Muladno. (*/Rz) (IAAS/SHY)
