Care IPB University Holds Public Lecture on Conflict Resolution Strategies for Postgraduate Students of UIN Yogyakarta’s SAA Study Programme

Recently, the Centre for Conflict Resolution and Empowerment Studies (Care) IPB University held a Public Lecture on Conflict Resolution Strategies. The activity was in the context of exploring cooperation between Care IPB University and the Study Programme (Prodi) Master of Studies in Religions (SAA) State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta.

The event, which took place in Calina Room, IPB Campus Taman Kencana, Bogor, was attended by 32 students and lecturers of the SAA Master Programme of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The guest speaker for this public lecture was Prof Sumardjo who is the Head of the Conflict Resolution Division of Care IPB University.

“This activity is the first step of cooperation between the Master of SAA Study Program, Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Thought UIN Yogya and Care IPB University,” said Chairman of Master of SAA Study Program UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Dr Ustadi Hamsah.

He hopes that the two institutions can establish cooperation in the fields of academics, research, organising seminars and workshops in the field of conflict resolution, community empowerment and social religious issues.

Secretary of Care IPB University, Dr Agit Kriswantriyono in his speech said that Care IPB University has had several experiences in conflict management in several areas, including in border areas and conflict areas, including through empowerment approaches.

“Care IPB University is ready to share experiences and develop knowledge in the field of conflict resolution as one of the social innovations that can contribute to conflict resolution in various regions,” he said. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
