The School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) and the Indonesian Veterinary Hospital Association (ARSHI) conducted training on understanding and implementing Indonesian National Standards (SNI) for animal health services for veterinarians in Indonesia. The event was held in a hybrid format at SKHB and via Zoom Meeting.

The training invited speakers from the National Standardization Agency (BSN) and the Agriculture Instrument Standardization Agency (BSIP), Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), and was attended by 400 participants. The main objective of the training was to disseminate information about the implementation of SNI 9184:2023 on animal health services for veterinary hospitals, animal clinics, and independent veterinary practices.

The training was opened by Prof drh Deni Noviana, the Chairman of ARSHI and also Vice Rector of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs, Prof drh Agustin as the II Chairman of the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PB PDHI), and Dr drh Andriyanto, Vice Dean of SKHB IPB University for Resources, Cooperation, and Development.

“The good intention that we have today is actually to ensure that our services at least have a common standard. So what is done by our practitioner friends, whether in animal clinics, in independent practices, or in veterinary hospitals, can indeed be guaranteed in terms of quality. That is actually the most fundamental background to what ARSHI is doing,” explained Prof Deni in his closing remarks.

The training continued with sessions led by the following speakers: 1) drh Imas Sri Nurhayati, MSi (Quality Supervisor for Agricultural Products, Center for Standardization of Livestock Instruments and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture); 2) Heru Suseno, SPi, MT (Director of Development for Agro, Chemical, Health, and Halal Standards, BSN); 3) Konny Sagala, SSi (Director of Standard Implementation Systems and Conformity Assessment); and 4) Dr drh Syafril Daulay (Expert Commission, Agriculture Quarantine Agency).
