Strengthening the Cooperation in Food and Maritime Affairs, Delegation of FPNU China Courtesy Visit to IPB University

The delegation of Fujian Polytechnic Normal University (FPNU) China held a courtesy visit to IPB University (9/11). The delegation was received at the Science Techno Park (STP) of IPB University, Taman Kencana Campus, Bogor.

Towards the delegates, Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria conveyed the details of the scientific fields available at IPB University. He also explained the various progress and achievements that have been achieved by IPB University as well as the cooperation that has been built with the international world.

Previously, IPB University and FPNU had signed a Cooperation Framework Agreement in 2021. The Rector hopes that IPB University students can study at universities in China, especially in agriculture.

“As we know, in China, agriculture is very advanced. We want to continue to be able to transfer technology with China,” explained Prof Arif.

Prof Lai Hairong, Secretary of the CPC FPNU Committee in the courtesy visit expressed his joy at being able to bring the group to the campus of IPB University.

“Although the signing of the MoU was done online at that time, for cooperation, we have received approval from high officials in China. I am happy that today I can bring the whole group to the campus of IPB University as well as see the STP,” he said.

He also revealed, “I am very satisfied and interested in seeing IPB University’s innovation products. We will be very happy to cooperate with IPB University. Cooperation with IPB University is very important for us, IPB University is the first campus in Indonesia to strengthen cooperation.”

Not only IPB University, he also expressed his seriousness to cooperate with other Indonesian universities. This year FPNU has also opened Indonesian language classes, and the FPNU website is even available in Indonesian.

“There are 2,800 universities in China. Only 19 universities open Indonesian language department, including FPNU. Therefore, I really hope IPB University can send students to do an exchange student programme at FPNU. The more, the better,” he said.

Prof Lai Hairong added, “IPB University is welcome to send in large numbers. IPB University can send 100 students to us, we send 10 to IPB University, not necessarily the same number. If students come to FPNU, students do not need to pay tuition fees, will be facilitated with lodging and will get pocket money.”

He mentioned that IPB University is an excellent university. In addition, there are similarities in study programmes between IPB University and FPNU, namely related to food and marine. This is a strong reason for her desire to collaborate with IPB University.

Drh Dordia Anindita Rotinsulu, MSi as Assistant Director of International Program Services, Directorate of Global Connectivity IPB University said, both parties are committed to advancing food technology, engineering and maritime. The effort was in connection with the ‘Belt and Road’ between China and Indonesia with the concept of ‘Two Countries, Two Parks’ both to the academic and industrial communities.

“IPB University and FPNU will strengthen cooperation related to research collaboration, student exchange and also send lecturers from IPB University as guest lecturers at FPNU. In the near future, Rector I also plans to make a visit to China, with the focus of cooperation covering the fields of food and maritime research, which are very suitable for IPB University’s expertise,” he said.

“I hope this cooperation can expand IPB University’s network at the international level, especially Asia,” Dordia added.

Besides Prof Lai Hairong, the FPNU delegation included Dr Li Qihui (Director of President’s Office), Ms Chen Juanzhen (Vice Minister in Charge of United Front Work Department of the CPC FPNU Committee), Ms Weng Chaokui (Vice Director in charge of International Cooperation and Exchange Office), Prof Ye Ruihong (Dean of Food and Bioengineering School), Prof Huang Qinggui (Dean of Foreign languages School). They were also accompanied by Prof He Kun Ji (Chairman of FPNU Alumni) and Dr Hendry Jurnawan.

The IPB University parties who attended the meeting included the Rector, Prof drh Deni Noviana (Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs), Prof Yonny Koesmaryono (Chairman of the Academic Senate), several deans and representatives from related departments and directorates. (*/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
