IPB University Master Programs Students Win Best Presentation Award at the Asia Conference on ESD in Sapporo, Japan
The Master Study Program (Prodi) of Regional and Rural Development Planning Sciences (PWD), Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) IPB University has once again demonstrated its achievements at a prestigious international conference.
Presenting three research topics at the 8th Asia Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development (ACESD) in Sapporo, Japan, a number of PWD Doctoral Program students appeared as presenters, both through oral and poster presentations.
The event, which was attended by more than 120 participants from various Asian and European countries, presented 91 research topics around environmental issues and sustainable development. Apart from the University of Tokyo, other keynote speakers were professors from Tsinghua University, China and Clemson University, United States.
The three topics presented were the result of joint research with six PhD students and PWD lecturers. The six doctoral students are Thres Sanctyeka, Dewi Saraswati, Adhitya Bhuana Karana, Muhammad Faisal Yusuf, Rahmatun Fauza and Yeni Selvia. They were together with their supervisor Dr Hania Rahma and Prof Akhmad Fauzi who is also the Chair of the PWD Study Program.
One of the topics written by Dr Hania Rahma and Thres Sanctyeka in the form of a paper entitled “Strategic Variables of Green Economy Transformation Toward Sustainable Development in Indonesia” received the Best Poster Presentation Award. The paper will be published as part of the Springer Book Series “Environmental Science and Engineering” which is indexed by Scopus.
The participation of PWD IPB University students in this International Conference is the 5th in the last two years. Previously, the PWD Study Program sent its Masters and Doctoral students to the 26th International Conference on Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) in Portsmouth, England (June 2022) and the 86th International Scientific Conference on Economic and Social Development in Lisbon, Portugal (September 2022 ).
Most recently, events attended by IPB University students include the 25th International Conference on Economic Competitiveness and Sustainability (ECOS) in Brno, Czech Republic (March 2023) and last June in Ljubljana, Slovenia at the Annual Conference on Regional Studies.
“The participation of IPB University master programs students in international conferences is an effort to improve students’ abilities in conducting quality research,” said the Chairman of the IPB University PWD Study Program, Prof Akhmad Fauzi.
This effort, he continued, also helps students get used to appearing at international conferences and building networks with scientists from various countries.
