IPB University received a delegation visit from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Malaysia at IPB Dramaga Campus, Bogor (14/11). This visit was in the context of exploring opportunities for cooperation between universities.

Vice Rector of IPB University for Global Connectivity, Collaboration and Alumni Relations, Prof Iskandar Z Siregar welcomed the guests from Universiti Teknologi Mara, Malaysia. According to him, IPB University is always open in accepting international cooperation programs. The cooperation program can be in the form of student exchange and professor exchange.

“Student exchange and professor exchange programs are important initiatives in increasing the global dimension of education,” he said.

Prof Iskandar, revealed that IPB University is also wide open for joint research and joint conferences. He said, this program has an important role in developing scientific collaboration across institutions.

“However, lack of effective coordination can hamper the collaborative potential. Therefore, better planning is needed to ensure more optimal results in the advancement of knowledge and scientific cooperation,” he said.

Dean of UiTM’s Faculty of Agriculture and Agrotechnology, Prof Ts Dr Azhan Hashim Ismail, proposed creating a joint project between students to conduct international collaborative research. This project could bring students together in a joint initiative that involves the exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge.

“By involving students from different backgrounds and expertise, the project is expected to create synergies that result in innovative solutions to global challenges. Through this approach, we are trying to build a solid foundation for sustainable international cooperation in research,” he said.

IPB University’s Director of Global Connectivity, Dr Eva Anggraini offered a Collaboration Teaching program involving four courses such as Plant Protection, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, and Agricultural Engineering. In addition, we can start initiating a student exchange program for two weeks.

“From the discussion, there is also a joint conference plan that we will hold in 2025. Joint research will be conducted on the banana industry. For final year students, they can take final year projects as part of their program,” said Dr Eva. (dr) (IAAS/SHY)
