Two IPB University Professors, Prof Aris Y Purwanto and Prof Harsi Dewantari Kusumaningrum received the Herudi Technical Committee Award (HTCA) from the National Standardization Body (BSN).  Both received awards in the Standard Development Figure category.

At the HTCA award ceremony, Prof Aris was selected as a Standard Development Figure for the infrastructure, electrotechnical and machinery sectors.  Meanwhile, Prof Harsi Dewantari Kusumaningrum for the agro and health sectors.

“This HTCA is the highest form of appreciation from the Indonesian Government, through BSN, towards technology and standards development figures,” said the Chair of BSN, Kukuh S Ahmad after the HTCA Award ceremony in Jakarta, recently.

He explained that HTCA was given based on the assessment criteria set by BSN.  Therefore, HTCA winners are considered to meet a level of performance achievement that exceeds expectations and minimum performance requirements.  “This means that there is an extraordinary contribution from the people involved in developing the Indonesian National Standards (SNI),” he explained.

The HTCA assessment for the Standard Development Person category is carried out based on the criteria of persons involved in developing SNI.  Whether it comes from the chairman, deputy chairman, secretary and members of a TC or the draft SNI drafters involved according to the scope of the TC concerned.  Figure nominations are proposed by each TC Secretariat.

“From the 28 names of figures proposed by TC that were received by BSN, 4 Standards Development Figures were selected representing 4 sector groups,” said Kukuh.

Apart from that, Kukuh explained, there are several things that must be taken into consideration in the proposal.  First, this figure has experience and/or knowledge that exceeds that of others in accordance with the sector within the scope of TC.  Second, actively participate in providing feedback on the Draft SNI (RSNI) and draft international standards in the forum.

“Third, make an extraordinary contribution to the development of SNI and be actively involved in all TC activities.  “Fourth, have very high concern in developing SNI,” he continued.

This high level of concern, he said, must be seen from the level of activeness in promoting and utilizing SNI on a national and international scale in supporting the implementation of duties and functions in the institution.

“Finally, making Indonesia’s name famous in the world through standardization according to its TC sector,” he concluded.  (*/Rz) (IAAS/MFR)
