In the context of a community service program and increasing maggot cultivation capabilities, the Tegal Waru Village PKK Group, Ciampea District together with IPB University lecturers conducted a visit to PT Biomagg Sinergi Internasional in Jatijajar, Depok.

This activity was initiated as part of an effort to solve the waste problem in the village in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. During this visit, PKK community groups and students were given an understanding of various cutting-edge techniques in maggot cultivation, starting from the production process to effective management strategies.

“The visit was very interesting and gave us new knowledge and practical skills in cultivating maggots, from breeding to marketing and its potential in sustainably improving the welfare of our village community,” said Mrs. Nuryanah, one of the PKK group participants in Tegal Waru Village.

Dr Dimas Andrianto, lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry at IPB University, said that previously the PKK group participants had carried out training on the benefits of maggot cultivation so that they were able to make direct visits to PT Biomagg Sinergi Internasional for structured consultations.

“It is hoped that the public can really understand the process, the obstacles and the output obtained from the maggot cultivation program. “This visit has opened up insight into innovative and effective methods which the community can then reapply the process and drive positive change in Tegal Waru Village in a sustainable manner,” he said.

PT Biomagg Sinergi Internasional’s resource person, Farhan, explained the ecologically useful ability of maggots in the decomposition process of organic materials and their benefits in a sustainable manner.

“It is hoped that this visit will encourage the implementation of efficient and sustainable maggot cultivation practices among the community, as well as become an inspiring example for other village communities in utilizing the potential of local resources optimally to improve community welfare,” he said.
