IPB University Vocational School Students Conduct Field School Program in Rawa Panjang Village with Stunting Handling
IPB University Vocational School (SV) through the Freedom of Learning – Independence Campus Program (MBKM Internship) participated in filling the Stunting Field School (SL) activities with the Cibinong Region IX Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) with the material of Making Simple Drip Irrigation to Use Water Effectively in the Dry Season.
The Field School aims to improve the knowledge, attitudes and skills of SL participants, especially the Sekar Women Farmers Group (KWT), Rawa Panjang Village, Bojong Gede District, Bogor Regency.
Agi Juan Ardiansyah, a student representative who became a resource person, said that making drip irrigation using this simple circuit can help and overcome water problems in the dry season, especially in suburban areas who want to farm their yards.
“The implementation of the activity includes theoretical explanation and demonstration of how to make a simple drip irrigation system. Simple drip irrigation is made from used gallons, aerator hoses and cotton,” said Zaenal, another resource person.
Zaenal continued, the use of simple drip irrigation is expected to be a solution when the dry season comes because the principle of giving water by using drip irrigation is needed as an efficient use of water so as to reduce water loss due to evaporation due to high temperatures.
Muhammad Iqbal Nurulhaq as the Chairman of the Agricultural Production Technology and Community Development Study Program stated that the use of drip irrigation is a real solution to deal with the impact of the long drought that is currently hitting Indonesia. On a different occasion, Tri Budiarto, one of the student supervisors who is a graduate of SV IPB University, said that the student activity is one of the implementations of MBKM activities which are expected to have a real positive impact on rural communities, especially farmers.
“Making drip irrigation using a simple circuit and utilizing used bottles is expected to provide several benefits for KWT women. Besides being able to save water and reduce watering energy, they can also reuse used bottles so that they can reduce waste,” said Selvia, Field Agricultural Extension Worker (PPL) of Rawa Panjang Village.
