IPB University Student Collaboration Invites Young Generation to Care for the Environment
In order to raise the awareness of the younger generation on the issue of environmental pollution, the International Association of Students in Agricultural and Related Science (IAAS) Local Committee (LC) IPB University collaborated with the Indonesian Green Action Forum (IGAF) and the Society of Renewable Energy (SRE) to present an educational activity entitled Youth Agricareture (YACT) which consists of two series of activities, namely Youth Agricareture Goes to School (YGTS) and Youth Agricareture Goes to VCP (YGTV). The activities focus on community empowerment, environmental awareness and social actions.
Aribatun Najilah as the project leader of YACT 2023 said that this year’s YGTS activity raised the theme “Good Management for Healthy Environment” at SMAN 10 Bogor City. Meanwhile, YGTV carried the theme “DaMang: From Oil to Money” in Tapos 1 Village, Bogor.
“The themes and issues chosen are a form of IAAS LC IPB University’s attention to overcoming the issue of environmental pollution by the younger generation. Education at YGTS 2023 is delivered through interesting and interactive material about fashion waste which is complemented by an eco printing workshop,” she said.
She continued, YACT is expected to increase public awareness, especially the younger generation, to always care about environmental health and become a forum for the younger generation to foster social awareness and have a positive impact on the surrounding environment.
“Youth Agricareture is also expected to foster a sense of responsibility and problem solving skills in the younger generation that can develop their cognitive abilities. With all YACT 2023 activities, the youth will be more aware of environmental and household waste issues, as well as how to process them,” she concluded. (*/Lp) (IAAS/Ard)
