Improving Counseling Effectiveness, FPIK IPB University Holds Upgrading for Counseling Team
The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) IPB is again holding an upgrade for the counseling team. This activity aims to increase the insight and abilities of the FPIK counseling team so that it can increase the effectiveness of counseling for FPIK students, which was carried out on 10/10.
FPIK Counseling Team Coordinator, Dr Iin Solihin said that this activity was attended not only by the counseling team, but also included the Education Commission and Student Affairs Commission at the faculty and department level.
“This activity also invited the Student Welfare Advocacy (Adkesma) section of the Student Executive Board (BEM) FPIK and student peer counselors,” he said.
The Dean of FPIK IPB, Prof Fredinan Yulianda, said that currently facing student affairs challenges today are different from past student affairs.
“Mental health problems among students are relatively increasing with a greater variety of problems. Therefore, participation from all parties is needed to overcome this problem,” he said
He continued, the formation of the FPIK counselor team with various activities was one of the dean’s efforts to overcome various student mental health problems.
The resource person presented was Nina Marlina, counselor at Griya Harmony Therapy. She conveyed the results of a Populix survey which stated that one in two Indonesians had mental health problems.
“Mental health problems among students do not occur suddenly during college, but are an accumulation of mental health journeys since before starting their studies, including the living conditions of their families,” she said. (IAAS/RZL)
