Faculty of Medicine and SKHB IPB University Commemorate World Rabies Day
World Rabies Day is an important moment aimed at raising awareness about the rabies disease. In an effort to control rabies in animals and humans, the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB) at IPB University organized a ‘Rabies Talk Show’ and the Veterinary Hospital Service Week.
This event was organized by SKHB IPB University through the Veterinary Hospital Service and the Global Health Agro-maritime and One Health Collaborating Center (GHA-OHCC) in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine. In addition to the educational rabies talk show, there was free rabies vaccination provided for pets at the Veterinary Hospital Service and Taman Kencana Animal Clinic in Bogor City.
Support for the event came from various parties, including the Bogor Regency Fisheries and Livestock Department, the Bogor City Food Security and Agriculture Department, Satwagia, Agrianita, the Indonesian Veterinary Doctors’ Wives Association (PIDHI), and the Indonesian Veterinary Association (PDHI).
“One of the participating students in the talk show expressed the hope that as students of IPB University’s medical school, both from SKHB and the Faculty of Medicine, they could continue to disseminate the knowledge they acquired today to the surrounding community to raise awareness about the dangers of rabies. Hopefully, events like this can continue annually in order to realize a Rabies-Free Indonesia by 2030,” aspired one of the participating students. (*/Rz) (IAAS/Hap)
