BEM FEM IPB University Invited Students of SDN Cihideung Ilir 06 to Care About the Environment
IPB University students, members of the Student Executive Board for the Faculty of Economics and Management (BEM FEM), are trying to encourage elementary school students to care about the environment. This activity was carried out through the socialization of the Smart Maintaining Sustainability (Cemara) literacy corner which is part of the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) in Cihideung Ilir Village, Bogor, West Java.
Chief executive, Yurico Bakhri, stated that socialization regarding environmental issues at SDN Cihideung Ilir 06 was carried out to 36 Class V students. This activity was carried out in order to support the creation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 15 in the school environment, namely environmental care villages with the aim of increasing awareness of efforts to preserve and clean the environment.
“The material presented includes knowledge of SDGs 15 about environmentally conscious villages, environmental elements, environmental issues, activities that damage the environment, and the impact of environmental issues themselves,” he said.
During the delivery of the material, it was interspersed with direct action in the form of an ant operation to pick up rubbish around the participants’ seats and outside the classroom. This is a form of character instilling in students to be more concerned with the small rubbish that is scattered around them.
“After the material session was finished, the socialization activities continued with small games, namely clapping triangles and quizzes with prizes. “In this session, we prepare rewards for students who can answer the questions that have been provided,” said Yurico.
He added that this activity is expected to foster an attitude of caring for the environment among students, especially looking at the potential and problems that exist around where they live. Apart from that, it is an opportunity for students to get to know the school environment more closely, especially the places they visit every day.
“Hopefully this Cemara activity will be a good step in creating SDGs 15 values to help realize Indonesia’s ideals which can produce quality students in the future,” he said.
One of the participants expressed that he was very happy to take part in this activity which taught them the importance of environmental aspects in supporting life in the future. This student is also very enthusiastic about the next programs that will be implemented at SD Cihideung Ilir 06 in the next few months. (*/Rz) (IAAS/YMK)
