The Indian Students Learn Forestry at Arboretum Fahutan IPB University
A total of 10 students of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry India along with two assistants from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) RI made an educational visit to the Faculty of Forestry and Environment (Fahutan) IPB University. The purpose of this visit was to facilitate cross-cultural learning and knowledge exchange between the two institutions in the field of forestry and environment.
The participants were welcomed by Dr Naresworo Nugroho as the Dean of Fahutan IPB University. Also present were lecturers and the Academic and Student Affairs Commission from each department in Fahutan IPB University.
Imam, a representative from KLHK expressed his gratitude for the welcome given by Fahutan IPB University. He hopes the students can learn and know about forestry in Indonesia. “They can also explore knowledge at Fahutan IPB University related to the field of forestry and the environment,” he said.
Furthermore, Dr Naresworo Nugroho explained comprehensively related to Fahutan IPB University. The presentation included the introduction of IPB University in general, the introduction of Fahutan, and the scope of learning related to forestry and the environment here. The discussion session was warm with active participation and meaningful exchange of ideas.
The event continued with a leisurely walk while learning about the flora and fauna and the history of the Arboretum Fahutan IPB University. Students also had the opportunity to visit the Forest Products Technology Laboratory to find out various tools and technologies for processing wood and non-timber forest products.
The Greenhouse of Fahutan IPB University became the last destination of the visit of students of Dr YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry India. During this visit, students gained first-hand experience of planting practices and practical insights into the application of forestry research and conservation efforts also carried out at Fahutan IPB University.
