IPB University Welcomes International Students in the 2023/2024 Semester, Prepares The Student Buddies During Study
IPB University welcomes international students who take part in the degree and inbound student programmes in the odd semester of 2023/2024. Most of the international students who take part in the degree programme of the IPB University School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences Study Program (Prodi), others are inbound students or students who only take part in IPB University study credits for at least one semester. These international students come from various countries, including Malaysia, Germany, France, Japan and others.
The welcome ceremony was held at the Senate Court Room, Andi Hakim Nasoetion Building, Dramaga Campus by the Vice Chancellor of IPB University by the Vice Chancellor of Education and Student Affairs, Prof Deni Noviana, (9/9).
In his speech, Prof Deni Noviana explained the image of IPB University which has just celebrated its 60th anniversary. Prof Deni described the focus of IPB University in the field of agriculture in general and how to develop agriculture in Indonesia.
He said that the variety of majors at IPB University made it one of the most well-rounded universities in Indonesia. According to the QS World University Ranking, IPB University is consistently ranked number one in Southeast Asia, ranked 8th in Asia and number 51st in the world in agriculture and forestry.
According to Prof Deni, the presence of international students brings extraordinary energy and also broadens the perspective of science at IPB University. He asked this international student not to worry because there is the Directorate of International Education of IPB University and student buddies, students who will be responsible for accompanying them during their studies.
“I hope you can be active during your time here by attending events, joining our campus community, joining clubs, discussing interesting topics with your colleagues and friends here,” he said.
“Discussions with people from different backgrounds will broaden your knowledge. While you are in this most interesting time, remember that growth comes the way you have to get out of your comfort zone, accept challenges, celebrate your achievements and learn from your experiences,” continued Prof Deni.
To international students, Prof Deny conveyed his welcome speech to IPB University. He hopes that students from various countries can get new knowledge, learning and friendship.
“The purpose of this event is to let them know that they have us, the Directorate of International Education of IPB University, to facilitate their academic needs. We try to liaise between them and related units at IPB University when they have difficulties in their studies,” said IPB University’s Director of International Education, Puji Mudiana, SP, MA.
During their studies at IPB University, these international students will be accompanied by trained and experienced student buddies. The student buddies will provide information and assistance to the international students from the beginning of the semester until the end of study period and they return to their home countries. The existence of student buddies is expected to minimize the obstacles that international students will face during their studies.
“We want to welcome them with warmth and openness. We facilitate their needs related to their studies. We are trying to ensure that they face minimal obstacles during their studies,” said Puji. (MHT/Rz) (IAAS/MKY)
