IPB University Postgraduate School Welcomes New Students from the 2023 KNB Scholarship Program
IPB University Postgraduate School (SPs) welcomed students from the Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) scholarship program in 2023 in the Academic Senate Room, Dramaga Campus, Bogor, 15/9. A total of 9 students receiving KNB scholarships in 2023 come from 8 countries including Rwanda, Uganda, Yemen, Afghanistan, Solomon Islands, Sudan and Syria.
The KNB Scholarship is a scholarship program from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) of the Republic of Indonesia. This scholarship is offered to foreign citizens in developing countries who have academic potential and are interested in studying at universities in Indonesia. IPB University is one of the many reputable universities in Indonesia that has received the mandate to run this program.
In his speech, Prof Dodik Ridho Nurrochmat welcomed the students of the 2023 KNB scholarship program. He explained that since 2006 IPB University SPs have received this KNB scholarship program and it is running smoothly. Therefore, he said, SPs IPB University is a favorite destination for KNB students to continue their studies.
“We hope that students can adapt quickly while at IPB University and can take their studies seriously so they can graduate on time. “We congratulate you on being part of IPB University,” he said.
Prof Agus Buono, Vice Dean for Academic and Education Affairs conveyed several things related to doctoral and master program education at SPs IPB University. He also conveyed the curriculum and flow of the study completion process so that it could run smoothly and in an orderly manner.
“As part of IPB University, we hope that foreign students can adapt to the existing curriculum and can also study well, so that later they can contribute to the development of human resources in the countries the students come from,” he added.
Meanwhile, Prof Titi Candra Sunarti, Vice Dean for Resources, Collaboration and Development, explained that KNB students in the first year are required to take the Indonesian language program as preparation for taking part in the master’s and doctoral program education in the SPs IPB University study program. “Apart from academic programs, KNB students are also given an introduction to Indonesian culture program in the second year. “The goal is for them to understand the cultures that exist in Indonesia,” he explained.
Prof Titi Candra Sunarti added that the introduction of Indonesian culture is very important because it can be a medium for promoting Indonesian culture in the international realm. The hope is that foreign nationals from the KNB program will contribute to positive dynamics and cross-cultural interactions between the Indonesian academic community and international students. “With this KNB program, one way of improving the quality of education and ranking of universities in the World University Ranking,” he said.
