IPB Future Organizes Open House to Explore the History of IPB University
IPB Future held an open house with the theme “Explore the History of IPB University,” 2/9. After being inaugurated on January 12, starting September 1, 2023, the Museum and Gallery of IPB Future has now officially opened to the public and serves visits every Monday to Friday.
On this occasion, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, Vice Rector of IPB University, for Resource Resilience and Infrastructure, inaugurated the use of a barrier gate that serves to facilitate visitors entry into the museum. He also opened the photo exhibition and the virtual campus tour.
Dr Alim appreciated the results of innovation and digital transformation presented in the services at the Museum and Gallery of IPB Future.
“The inauguration of the barrier gate marks the opening of services for IPB University residents and the general public to visit directly by using IPB University ID scanning or reservations through museum.ipb.ac.id to get a QR-code,” said Dr Alim Setiawan.
Regarding the e-ticketing system, Ir Julio Adi Santoso, Chair of the Institute for Information Management and Digital Transformation, said the e-ticketing system and barrier gate facilities automatically register and record the arrival of visitors to the Museum and Gallery of IPB Future.
“This digital recording service is expected to provide convenience, comfort, and open access for visitors,” said Ir Julio.
On the same occasion, a photo exhibition with the theme “Our Collective Memory” was launched.
Assistant for Digital Archives and Museum Management, Dr Syafitri Hidayati, said as many as 20 photos from work units within IPB University and independent photographers from IPB University residents were exhibited. “The photos become a record of events, space, and time that are played back through presentations and narratives that visitors can see in the museum lobby,” she said.
She explained that the new experiences that visitors can get are the Virtual Campus Tour (VCT) and IPB Museum AR. In this facility, visitors will be invited to explore the campuses of IPB University along with the collective memory of each faculty and its first dean.
“IPB Future Museum and Gallery is committed to being able to present the collective memory of higher education in agriculture, marine, and tropical biosciences as a learning center to strengthen national identity and character,” said Dr Syafitri Hidayati.
She continued that while maintaining the heritage of the birth and growth of IPB University as the oldest agricultural higher education institution in Indonesia, the IPB Future Museum and Gallery develops recreational and educational tourism. (*/ra) (IAAS/MZS)
