Department of PSP IPB University Releases MBKM Internship Students to Fishing Ports, KKP and Data Science Industry
Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), Prof Fredinan Yulianda and The Chairman of Department of Fisheries Resource Utilization (PSP) Prof Eko Sri Wiyono together with a number of lecturers of the Fishing Management and Technology Study Program (TMPT) symbolically released 84 students of class 57 who will carry out the internship program of Freedom of Learning – Independence Campus (MBKM).
“Take care of your personal and institutional reputations. Hopefully you can learn in the field by being actively involved in various activities that build soft skills. Keep learning to increase understanding in the field of fisheries and marine affairs,” Prof Fredinan told the students when giving a briefing at the Sumardi Sastra Kusumah Auditorium, IPB Dramaga Campus.
The MBKM internship activity is one of the Independent Campus Competency Programs (PKKM) funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek). PKKM activities carried out by the Department of PSP IPB University include MBKM internships, MBKM mini curriculum preparation, partner development, public lecture and lecturer certification.
PSP IPB University students will carry out an internship for three months. They are spread across a number of fishing ports in Indonesia, the Office of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the data science industry. The fishing ports that are the location of the internship are the class of Ocean Fishing Ports (PPS) and Nusantara Fishing Ports (PPN). There are 14 fishing ports that become internship locations, namely PPS Nizam Zachman, PPS Cilacap, PPS Belawan, PPS Bitung, PPS Kendari, VAT Palabuhanratu, VAT Karangantu, VAT Tanjungpandan, VAT Brondong, VAT Pekalongan, VAT Sungailiat, VAT Pengambengan and VAT Kejawanan.
The Chairman of the Department of PSP IPB University, Prof Eko Sri Wiyono, said that the MBKM program is integrated with the K2020 curriculum program which is expected to be able to answer the target of the main performance indicators (IKU). He added that all PSP IPB University students who participated in the MBKM internship as many as 20 semester credit units (SKS) and Capstone courses were expected in the 8th semester to be able to conduct research and graduate on time.
Students will complete this internship program until November 13th, 2023. A number of PSP IPB University lecturers involved include Dr Ronny Irawan Wahju, Dr Didin Komarudin, Julia Eka Astarini MSi, Dwi Putra Yuwandana MSi and Tri Nanda Citra Bangun MSi. (Retno/Rz) (IAAS/MKY)
