The Akmapesa Vocational School Student Association (Himavo Akmapesa) held training on processing crystal guava into pickles for the people of Bantarjaya Tourism Village. The training was the inaugural activity of the Village Community Empowerment program (P2MD) in collaboration with the village secretariat and the Bantarjaya Tourism Village group. This activity took place in the Bantarjaya Village Office Hall, Rancabungur District, Bogor Regency, West Java.

“This first training was carried out as a step in educating the village community regarding the processing of crystal guava into a superior product. This effort is expected to maintain and stabilize crystal guava prices in Bantarjaya Village. It is hoped that this training will provide new knowledge for the villagers,” said Bunga Novia Ramadhan, one of the team members.

At the same time the meeting formed the group ‘Jaya Bersama’ which was chaired by Husnul Khatimah as Head of RT 004 Rancabungur District. The formation of this group, said Bunga, aims to be a forum for coaching and training assistance for the community, especially crystal guava farmers in the local area.

Ai Imas Faidoh Fatimah, STP, MP, MSc as the supervising lecturer for P2MD Himavo Akmapesa activities was present to deliver material related to the processing of crystal guava pickles to support crystal guava farmers in increasing their previous income.

“Innovation in pickles is not something new, but if it is developed it can potentially increase the economic value of crystal guava, if it is focused the goals can be achieved. From here, you will start to think about how to make pickles that are healthy and attract consumers,” said Ai Imas, who is also a lecturer in the Food Quality Assurance Supervisor Study Program at the Vocational School of IPB University.

Representative of the village government, Azhari, in his speech said, “Thank you for the guidance and guidance on the procedures for processing and producing crystal guava. I congratulate you on serving in Bantarjaya Village,” said Azhari.

The series of training events are completed with a pre-test and post-test. The residents of Bantarjaya Village enthusiastically started practicing the procedure for making crystal guava pickles. During the processing process, a two-way discussion was held between the P2MD team and the residents of Bantarjaya Village to improve the formulation of the crystal guava pickle (IAAS/AMR).
