The Tansana IPB University Student Creativity-Community Service Program (PKM-PM) team carried out the socialization of disaster response education programs for people with disabilities at the Cahaya Quran Extraordinary School (SLB), the Savings Heaven Foundation. The main target of this program is children with disabilities, especially the blind and deaf.

“Tansana or ‘Resilience Together in Facing Disasters’ is an innovative program because it targets children with disabilities. This is because they are a disaster-prone group,” said Silvia Zalda Putri, head of the Tansana program implementation team at the workshop’s opening.

“Through this Tansana activity, we want to share insights and invite all participants and activity partners to be more aware of the urgency of disaster response efforts and special attention for friends with disabilities in dealing with disaster situations,” explained Silvia Zalda Putri, head of the Tansana program implementation team. in the opening of the workshop.

This activity was welcomed by Wahyu, the organizer and teacher of SLB Cahaya Quran as well as a teacher. Wahyu revealed, “The Tansana program will have a good impact on friends with disabilities here in gaining new insights and learning experiences with various educational programs provided by the implementing team later.”

This, added Wahyu, is in line with the hope of the foundation to continue to improve educational methods for students so that they are better prepared to live life independently.

On the same occasion, Susi as the parent of one of the students revealed that this activity was a very strategic and noble program. The Tansana program can provide motivation and teaching to students in living life and knowing what preparations can be made in dealing with disasters.

“This program provides new perspectives, constructive motivation and a high sense of concern for friends with disabilities,” said Adrian who is also a teacher at Cahaya Quran SLB.

“The things that were conveyed by the Tansana team, such as program explanations, simple games, providing motivation, as well as assistance with direct interaction with friends with disabilities, were very creative and were considered capable of building high spirits,” he added.

The socialization that was carried out was not only in the form of the presentation of program material, but also interspersed with ice breaking sessions which had been adapted to the abilities of deaf and blind children. (Silvia/Rz) (IAAS/MFR)
