The Teaching Animal Hospital (RSHP), School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science (SKHB) IPB University recently held rabies vaccinations for staff, veterinarians and paramedics within the RSHP. Measures to prevent transmission of rabies from animals to humans can be carried out, one of which is through a vaccination program.

Lecturers and educational staff from the Division of Internal Medicine and the Division of Surgery and Radiology have participated in this program. Several veterinarians from other veterinary clinics, such as Bobon Pet Care and Cimanggu Pet Care also participated in this rabies vaccination activity.

The Executive Director of RSHP SKHB, Prof drh Gunanti warmly welcomed the presence of the participants who received the rabies vaccine. “This activity aims to prevent the transmission of the rabies virus which has recently been rife in pets, such as dogs, cats, monkeys and other vulnerable animals,” he said.

Participants who had been vaccinated received socialization on how to first respond if exposed to the rabies virus by nurses and health workers from PT BioFarma. The socialization also explained how to prevent the possibility of transmitting the rabies virus when dealing with or working with animals (patients) that can transmit rabies. (AP/KY/Rz) (IAAS/YMK)
