Pandawa 5 Team, one of the Student Creativity Program in the Community Service category (PKM-PM) at IPB University presents an innovative approach to explain the importance of character education for school-age children. In a program titled ‘Pandawa 5: Strengthening the Integrity Character of Rumah Langit’s Scavenger Children through Collaborative Learning Methods to Create 21st Century Learners,’ the team combines the superhero Pandawa's stories with interactive and enjoyable collaborative learning methods.

Moreover, they implement game-based activities to enhance the engagement and participation of the children during the learning process. The Pandawa 5 team promotes the slogan ‘Realize Integrity, Elevate Aspirations’. According to Nur Indah Fajarini, the team leader of PKM, the slogan was not created without reason.

"By instilling values such as honesty, politeness, optimism, and trustworthiness, we hope that the children from scavenger families at Yayasan Rumah Langit, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, can seize significant opportunities in the future with the foundation of these character values," she said during the program introduction at the Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) Dahlia, Kramat Jati.

As the name suggests, the team consists of five IPB University students, including Nur Indah Fajarini (Faculty of Human Ecology), Zahrotul Huriyah (Faculty of Agriculture), Muhamad Fassya N (Faculty of Animal Science), Tri Ratna Chaniyatun N (Faculty of Human Ecology), and Sendi Setiawan (Faculty of Economics and Management).

Various parties attended the program's socialization event, including Yayasan Rumah Langit, representatives from the Kelurahan Tengah, the Sub-District Office of Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) East Jakarta and all the parents of the children supported by Yayasan Rumah Langit.

"The purpose of this socialization activity is to transparently communicate this program to all the parents, so that there will be no misunderstanding among the involved parties," explained Indah. She hoped that everyone present would understand and support the upcoming activities.

Ai Sri Mulyati, as the representative of the Kelurahan Tengah, also expressed her support. "We are always open to welcoming colleagues from IPB University," she concluded in her closing remarks.

Not only that, in Malih's statement, the Head of the East Jakarta PPAPP Unit emphasized the importance of this activity for the children's future. "We, as the East Jakarta PPAPP Unit, fully support this activity. This collaboration has incredible benefits as a forum for building connections between different elements of society, the government, and other entities. This activity also contributes to raising healthy and intelligent generations, fulfilling children's rights, and empowering the nation's healthy and competitive generations. We hope this activity will continue to be carried out routinely," Malih concluded.

Pandawa 5 Team is one of the 41 Student Creativity Program in the Community Service category at IPB University that successfully secured funding from the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs, Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
