The Student Profession Association of the Department of Forest Management, Faculty of Forestry and Environment, IPB University or Forest Management Students' Club (FMSC) socialized the Eco Edutourism Coffee Agroforestry Tourism Development Program to the Pasir Sarongge community, Cianjur Regency, West Java.

The program is one part of community service and empowerment activities through the Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa). The PPK Ormawa FMSC IPB University implementation team consists of 13 students from various multidisciplines and is accompanied by a supervisor, Fitta Setiajiati, SHut, MSi.

"Two or three years ago, we also had activities in Pasir Sarongge. Indeed, the people of Pasir Sarongge have high enthusiasm to develop," said Fitta.

This socialization activity was attended by the Head of Ciputri Village, representatives from the Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park (TNGGP) management, community leaders, Sarongge micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and youths who are members of the youth organization.

Nia Novi Hertini as the Head of Ciputri Village said, "Welcome, we are happy and welcome IPB University friends to do activities in Ciputri Village, especially Pasir Sarongge. Please utilize the existing potential to be developed and please contribute to the community," she said.

She also hoped that with the PPK Ormawa activity, it would be a turning point for the re-organization of the Sarongge Festival. "There has been no Sarongge festival for a long time due to limited human resources (HR) and the village government budget," she added.

Bambang Mulyono, a representative from TNGGP said that Pasir Sarongge is famous for tree adoption. The activity began when farmers used 28 hectares of TNGGP land for farming. However, along with the community's awareness of the importance of forests, the farmers shifted down and there was a tree adoption that made Pasir Sarongge quite famous.

"With this PPK Ormawa program, we can collaborate with each other in land management for the future so that it can be even better and maintain sustainability," he hoped.

According to Toska, a community leader in Pasir Sarongge, there are two forest areas with Special Management Forest Area (KHDPK) status with arabica and robusta coffee types. However, the productivity of coffee farmers is still relatively low, so there is a need for training for coffee farmers to increase coffee productivity in Pasir Sarongge. (*/Rz) (IAAS/NVA)
