IPB University students who were involved in the Innovation Real-Thematic Work Lecture (KKN-T) created a stunting prevention program together with pregnant women in Pekasiran Village, Banjarnegara, Central Java. The program is BINA 1000 or Guidance for Pregnant Women regarding Nutrition and Parenting for the First 1000 Days of Life.
"BINA 1000 is one of IPB University's Innovation KKN-T student programs that focuses on preventing stunting through education for pregnant women. The aim is to increase public knowledge, especially pregnant women, about the importance of the first 1000 days of life (HPK)," said Viola Zahra Wahyuningsih, one of the KKN-T Innovation students.
The BINA 1000 program, she continued, also aims to increase public awareness and concern for preventing stunting since in the womb. In addition, this activity in the form of socialization is also expected to increase the creativity of the community in providing proper nutrition and parenting to children as an effort to prevent stunting.
Viola explained that one of the BINA 1000 program series was the Pregnant Women Class: Preventing Stunting. On that occasion, he explained 'Efforts to Prevent Stunting from the Viewpoint of Family Science and Consumers'. This class is expected to be able to introduce the BINA 1000 program as an effort to prevent stunting in Pekasiran Village and provide an understanding of stunting.
"We hope that the BINA 1000 program can be continued independently as an effort to prevent stunting, thereby reducing the stunting rate in Indonesia, especially in Pekasiran Village," she said.
Chief of Pekasiran Village, Nuryuniati said in her remarks that optimizing 1,000 HPK is very important in trying to prevent stunting since pregnancy. IPB University Innovation KKN-T students created the BINA 1000 program for pregnant women in the hope of reducing stunting rates in newborns in Pekasiran Village.
"The period of 1000 HPK must really be paid attention to by pregnant women, especially in providing nutrition during pregnancy and after giving birth later. Providing proper parenting for children is also important, so this is one of our efforts to prevent stunting since pregnancy in this village," she said.
One of Pekasiran Village midwife, Ratna Purwaningsih appreciated the program carried out by IPB University Innovation KKN-T students.
