A number of Putera Malaysia University Lecturers Shared Studies on Computer Science at IPB University
A number of Putera Malaysia (UPM) lecturers shared studies on computer science at IPB University which were packaged in an international symposium. The event was the result of the collaboration between IPB University and UPM with the theme 'Computer Science for Smart Agriculture, Education and Medicine (CSSAEM) and was held at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Dramaga Campus of IPB, Bogor.
The Dean of FMIPA IPB University, Dr Berry Juliandi when opening the event explained the importance of computer science and technology. He said that in the future, knowledge from various fields would need support from computer science and technology.
"We are looking for a strategic partner and the closest to Indonesia, so cooperation with UPM is the right choice because they are located in close proximity, they also have the same goal. In this event we can share information related to computer science for smart agriculture to make it efficient, also for precision education, medicine so that activities in Indonesia and Malaysia are well coordinated," he said some time ago.
Regarding research and innovation, he mentioned several IPB University innovations that were closely related to the potential of the Indonesian and Malaysian regions. "IPB University has innovative early detection of forest fires. IPB University also has precision agriculture for palm oil, innovative palm waste feed, helmets made from biomaterials from palm oil and many others," he said.
The same thing was also conveyed by Dr Sony Hartono Wijaya, Head of the Computer Science Department of IPB University. He stated that this activity was a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IPB University and UPM.
"The hope is that through this international symposium the two universities will synergize with each other in the scientific aspect. What have we done and what have they done, knowledge sharing, funding collaboration opportunities, which ones can be further collaborated on, we can synergize with each other," he said.
One of the UPM lecturers, Prof Rahmita Wirza OK Rahmat expressed his gratitude for the extraordinary welcome from IPB University. He hopes that this cooperation will run smoothly in the future.
As many as 13 UPM lecturers who attended IPB University had time to stop at the Department of Computer Science and see the various learning facilities available at the Dramaga Campus of IPB. (dh/Rz) (IAAS/Res)
