The Exhilaration of Jalan Sehat Merdeka Belajar at IPB University Campus
IPB University held a Healthy Walk for Merdeka Belajar, Sunday morning (14/5). The healthy walk activity in the framework of the Freedom of Learning-Independence Campus (MBKM) program was opened by the Rector of IPB University, Prof Arif Satria.
Participants consisting of students, lecturers and education staff were very enthusiastic about participating in this healthy walk. The participants followed the healthy walking route which started from the Andi Hakim Nasoetion (AHN) Rectorate Field, Innovation Park, Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW), Collaboration Park, Ramin Street and returned to the AHN Rectorate Field.
"This is the socialization of Merdeka Belajar or MBKM so that students know more about MBKM and are interested in joining, because (MBKM) is a very positive thing to shape our personal qualities, both character and soft skills," said Prof Arif Satria.
According to Prof Arif, MBKM is important for students to improve competence in order to have life skills, namely the ability to survive. He said there were MBKM programs that focused on business, community development, internships in companies, and even student exchanges abroad. This program can be followed by all IPB University students.
"I hope this can be taken as much benefit as possible. For those who have not, I hope to join the MBKM program," he said.
Prof Arif asked students to make the best use of any program from MBKM, including IPB Mengajar. He said this program not only trained teaching skills, but also trained the ability to interact and build collaboration with teachers and students.
"I hope that in this learning process, you will learn to be independent. Ki Hajar Dewantara said, independent learning is to make your house your school, make the rice field as a school, the river as a school, the settlement as a school, the market as a school. It also makes everyone a teacher, everyone has knowledge, everyone has skills, everyone has wisdom," he explained.
"So I hope everyone can learn with such independent principles. If you can do the principles like Ki Hajar Dewantara's principles, that is the essence of our freedom in learning," added Prof Arif.
Ending his speech, Prof Arif advised that IPB University students continue to have a good mindset in order to grow into great people who spread benefits. When you are able to spread the benefits, in the end you can contribute to progress and change. Because, IPB University students are not spectators of change but leaders of change.
"IPB University students must have courage, have a vision, have the ability to execute, have the ability to communicate, collaborate and also focus on new things that are future practice and innovative which will make us leaders of change," he said. (MHT/Rz) (IAAS/RUM)
