PSL IPB University Attends Technical Training and Monitoring of UN4DRR Activities in Brussels, Belgium
The delegation of the Natural Resources and Environmental Management Study Program (PSL) of the Graduate School (SPs) of IPB University attended the last technical training and monitoring and evaluation of the Erasmus + / University Network for Disaster Risk Reduction (UN4DRR) Project activities held in Brussels, Belgium with the host Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). The event was attended by Prof Widiatmaka (Head of the PSL Doctoral Program), Prof Lina Karlinasari (Secretary of the PSL Doctoral Program), Prof Suria Darma Tarigan and Dr Yudi Setiawan, lecturers in PSL Program.
UN4DRR itself is a consortium consisting of 9 universities from 7 countries. They are Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium), Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (Spain), University of Nicosia (Cyprus), University of Zagreb (Croatia), National University of Maldives, University of Peradeniya (Sri Lanka), University of Colombo (Sri Lanka), IPB University and Syiah Kuala University.
The objective of UN4DRR is to strengthen the functional capacity of universities in the implementation of disaster risk reduction and management with a special focus. The strategy is through curriculum modernization with innovative teaching and learning methodologies in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Geographic Information System (GIS) remote sensing techniques.
"The main focus of this meeting is to assess and evaluate programs and courses/training that have been carried out and developed, especially in developing disaster-related curriculum at Indian Ocean Rim (IOR) partner universities," said Prof Widiatmaka some time ago.
He added that the delegation from PSL SPs IPB University on the first day presented all the activities that had been carried out and the presentation of academic programs. On this occasion, the four delegates explained related to course development through curriculum modernization, especially related to sharpening learning outcomes for 9 courses.
Meanwhile, Prof Lina Karlinasari explained, on the second day the delegation presented the glocal network social media platform (https://theglocal.network/) developed with the support of the UN4DRR project. This platform is available as a forum for communication and interaction on various matters related to disaster issues and the initiation and coordination of the UN4DRR project.
"In general, a series of programs and activities have made an important contribution to the internationalization of the PSL SPs IPB University study program, especially related to facility development through smart classrooms and the provision of several GIS-related tools, sharpening course materials and organizing international seminars," she explained.
