IPB University Hosts National University Debating Championship Regional Selection 2023

IPB University is hosting the National University Debating Championship (NUDC) Regional Selection 2023. This competition is a prestigious debate event for the younger generation of students from various universities in Indonesia.

Prof drh Deni Noviana, Vice Rector of IPB University for Education and Student Affairs officially opened the NUDC 2023 selection implementation. He explained, the selection of region two consists of 95 universities with 283 participants competing from May 6 to 8, 2023.

"There are many skills and knowledge that can be obtained by students during this activity. Among them are the ability to think critically about national issues, public speaking and diplomacy," he said during the Opening Ceremony of The NUDC 2023 (5/5).

According to him, these competencies are needed by college graduates when starting a career as a professional. Through this competition, it is hoped that the birth of young people with critical thinking will become a milestone in changing the nation in the future.

The annual debate competition held by the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI) was held as well as a forum for developing student competencies in the fields of debate and diplomacy. All winners determined by the judges will be representatives who will compete at the national level in 2023.

Head of BPTI, Asep Sukmayadi appreciated IPB University for its willingness to be part of the selection stage for young Indonesian talents. "The success of this selection cannot be separated from the role of IPB University as a catalyst in developing young generation talents in the NUDC 2023 competition," he said.

This activity, he explained, could reflect the university's expectations in guiding future leaders of the nation. He projected that the younger generation has post-pandemic abilities in the form of soft skills-based skills to succeed. (MW/Rz) (IAAS/ANF)
