The Postgraduate School (SPs) of IPB University selects students from the Developing Countries Partnership (KNB) scholarship program for masters and doctoral programs who will study at SPs IPB University (11/4). There are 112 prospective students from 21 countries namely Afghanistan, Benin, Cameroon, Ecuador, Gambia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Solomon Islands, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen as well as Zimbabwe. There are as many as 27 study programs that can be chosen by prospective KNB students.

The KNB Scholarship is a scholarship program by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) in order to improve the quality and international reputation of Indonesian higher education.

This scholarship is offered to foreign nationals in developing countries who have academic potential and have an interest in studying at universities in Indonesia. IPB University is one of many reputable universities (PT) in Indonesia that has received the mandate to run this program.

Deputy Dean of SPs IPB University for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Agus Buono said that the selection process for prospective KNB students consists of file selection, psychological tests, and interviews. Currently, 40 prospective students have passed the interview test. The selection results from SPs IPB University will be submitted to Kemdikbudristek.

“Prospective students who pass the selection will be serious about continuing their studies at SPs IPB University, and can contribute to the development of human resources (HR) in developing countries where these foreign students come from,” he said while giving a lecture event which took place in Room 301 Building SPs IPB University.

Meanwhile Vice Dean of SPs IPB University in the field of Resources, Cooperation and Development, Prof. Titi Candra Sunarti said, KNB students who will study in Indonesia must take part in an Indonesian language training program for one academic year. They are also not allowed to take preparatory programs that are regulated in accordance with the policies of each university and academic programs related to the maximum duration of the scholarship.

“In addition, KNB students are also given an introduction to Indonesian culture in the second year. The goal is for KNB students to understand the cultures that exist in Indonesia,” he explained.

The activity was carried out in a hybrid manner, present at the selection of prospective KNB students, Prof. Agus Buono, Prof. Titi Candra Sunarti Deputy Dean for Resources, Cooperation and Development, Prof. Nahrowi, Fatmasari Siregar, SP, MM and the team part of the IPB University SPs collaboration. Fatmasari Siregar, SP, MM, Head of Public Relations Subdivision, Cooperation and New Student Admissions (PMB) SPs IPB University added, the introduction of Indonesian culture is very important because it can become a promotional medium in the international sphere.

“Foreign countries from the KNB program will certainly contribute to positive dynamics and cross-cultural interaction between the Indonesian academic community and international students. With the KNB program, one of the things we can do is improve the quality of education and the ranking of higher education institutions in the World University Ranking,” he concluded.
