Hipotesa Introduces High School Students To the Department of Economics IPB University
The Association of Profession and Interest in Economics and Development Studies (Hipotesa) under the Department of Economics (IE), Faculty of Economics and Management (FEM) IPB University held Get Closer To the Department of IE (GCTIE) (8/4).
This activity is intended for prospective students, high school students, who are still undecided about choosing a major and university destination. This annual event provides unique facts about the IE Department of IPB University as well as an overview of student life and graduate career paths.
The participants consisting of 11th and 12th-grade students were also invited to get acquainted with the chairman of the department, alumni, head of Hipotesa, and outstanding student representatives from the Department of IE IPB University.
Head of the IE Department of IPB University, Dr Sahara explained that there are three study programs (Prodi) in the department, namely the undergraduate study program of development economics (S1), master of economics (S2), and doctoral (S3).
“Learning in the IE Department is fun, not just memorization. Their analytical and mathematical skills are always honed. Therefore, economists in this department are famous for their outstanding quantitative analysis skills,” she said.
She revealed some unique facts about the IE Department, including having the most lecturers with professors and doctoral degrees at FEM IPB University. Students can learn directly from leading economists. Students can also be involved in national and international cooperation activities.
“Job opportunities for graduates of the IE Department are wide open. They can become analysts, academics, celebrities, and even YouTubers who discuss the latest economic developments because the government and private institutions all need economist analysts,” she explained.
High school students were invited to talk in a Talkshow with the Mapres of the IE Department, Aisyah Nur Aeni, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hipotesa, M Naufal Rajby Halizi. The two speakers shared the reasons for choosing the IE Department and life as a student of IPB University. The students also shared how to divide their time so that they can continue to achieve achievements in busy classes.
In the second talk show session, high school students talked with Alumni of the IE Department of IPB University. The successful alumni are Suma Nugraha MM (IE-40) who is now working as Owner/Director of PT Berkah Kuliner (Chick n’ Tea and Yourtea Group) and Najla Halizi SE, (IE-55) Education Candidate Assistant Manager Rank (PCPM) Bank Indonesia 37 the Year 2023.
“Prospective students do not need to be afraid of not being able to climb a successful career. The IE Department of IPB University has prepared its graduates to be ready to face the world of work and industry with all its facilities and advantages,” said one of the alumni of IPB University.
