SPs IPB University Holds a Public Lecture as a Requirement for Implementation of the Results Seminar

IPB University Postgraduate School (SPs) held a public lecture seminar (KUS) for the 2022/2023 Academic Year (24/3). This KUS is a socialization guide and is one of the mandatory requirements for registration for seminars for doctoral and master program students. The activity was carried out offline, attended by 458 active students of doctoral and master programs as well as 18 seminar lecturers as presenters who were divided into 9 rooms.

Prof Anas Miftah Fauzi, Dean of SPs IPB University said, this KUS is mandatory for all active students and is held every semester. This is so that students can understand the provisions and regulations for implementing the results seminar which will later be carried out by IPB University SPs students.

"Later on, through the results seminar, it is hoped that students can learn and be skilled at presenting their research results, both in written and oral form. In addition, this activity provides an opportunity for students to receive input from academic forums to improve their research reports, both theses for the master's program and dissertations for the doctoral program," he said in a separate statement.

Prof Agus Buono, Vice Dean of SPs IPB University for Academic and Student Affairs said, after completing the results seminar course, SPs IPB University students will have scientific communication competence. For the implementation of the results seminar, students with the approval of the chairman of the supervising commission can choose one of the scientific groups that is most relevant to the topic of the seminar paper.

"The implementation of the seminar resulted in five scientific groups, namely plant or botany science; animal science and health; engineering science, information technology and planning; humanities social sciences; and economics, management, business and policy,” he explained.

Prof Agus Buono added, writing seminar papers is the essence of all or part of a student's thesis or dissertation and is written in standard Indonesian or English according to the writing format in the Guidelines for Writing Scientific Papers (PPKI) which has been published by IPB University.

"Seminar assessment results are related to the quality of seminar papers which include the format of paper writing. In addition, student performance during the seminar was also assessed which included the quality of paper presentation and the quality of marketing answers to questions from seminar participants," he concluded.
