IPB University KKN-T Students in Banjarwangunan Village Run the Village Posyandu Development Program
IPB University students who are members of the Thematic Real Work Lecture (KKN-T) ran the Village Posyandu Development program (PPD) in Banjarwangunan Village, Mundu District, Cirebon Regency, West Java. PPD is one of the eight student programs of IPB University related to nutrition and health which is divided into two main activities, namely the provision of assistance in weighing months and counseling related to anthropometry and nutritional status of children under five SKDN to posyandu cadres.
"The assistance in question is human resource assistance (HR) to assist posyandu cadres during the weighing month. Assistance personnel was given to four posyandu located in Banjarwangunan Village," said Alvin Wijaya, student representative of IPB University KKN-T.
He added that several activities carried out by students together with posyandu cadres during the month of weighing include weighing infants and toddlers, filling out posyandu cards, filling out the Towards Health Card (KMS), to filling out the Posyandu Information System (SIP).
“In addition to helping with weighing month activities, this activity also aims to observe the general condition of the posyandu. Such as how the availability and feasibility of measuring instruments, filling out the SKDN, and community activity in the weighing month held by the posyandu," added Alvin.
This activity, he said, is also expected to be able to form social bonds between IPB University KKN-T students and posyandu cadres. So that other activity or program related to nutrition and health can run with stronger coordination between the two parties.
The PPD program is also filled with counseling, training on anthropometric measurements, and filling out SKDN. Alvin said the purpose of this activity was to refresh the memory of posyandu cadres regarding the procedures for measuring weight, height, and body length, as well as proper and correct measurements of upper arm circumference in order to avoid bias in the results during measurements.
“The SKDN materials were given as a response to the low awareness of cadres regarding the importance of filling out the SKDN. This SKDN is important because it becomes a benchmark for the success of a posyandu program. The existence of this benchmark can be one illustration for local governments to evaluate the work of the health sector in a certain period, "he concluded. (*/Rz)
