IPB University Students Introduce Climate Change to Students of SDN Cihideung Ilir 03

A number of IPB University students who are members of the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPKO) Natural Resources Economy and Environmental Student Association (REESA) conducted an Introduction to Climate Change for students at SDN Cihideung Ilir 03, Cibanteng Village, Bogor (10/9). The activity was divided into two parts, namely socialization about climate change and the practice of making tabulampot and composter pots.

Head of the Program, Aditya Handoyo Putra, assessed that this socialization activity is important considering the impacts of climate change are increasingly being felt. He explained that the introduction of climate change was carried out for children so that their mindset and behavior were oriented towards loving the environment and not making the condition of the earth worse.

"The socialization activity begins with an explanation of climate change to actions that can reduce the impact of climate change," said Fauzah, a student of IPB University from the Department of Natural Resources Economy and Environment.

He explained that one of the actions that can be taken is to plant trees and utilize organic waste. Tree planting activities can be carried out using the tabulampot method (fruit plants in pots) and the use of organic waste is carried out by planting vegetables in a composter pot.

The principal of SDN Cihideung Ilir 03, Siti Handaroh, stated that she fully supports the activities of IPB University students at her school. She assessed that these activities can provide additional knowledge for students and can train students' interactions with other people.

“Socialization activities and planting practices in composter pots and tabulampot are interesting for students. Moreover, the activities are carried out during scouting so that students can be more intense in interacting with them, especially in the scout curriculum, there are also materials and practices for growing plants so that they can be linear with school programs," said Siti Handaroh.
