To Improve Food Security, IPB University Collaborates with PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya

IPB University collaborated with one of the Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) DKI Jakarta, namely PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya to improve food security. The collaboration was carried out by signing a memorandum of understanding through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Saturday, 13/8.

The MoU contains cooperation in the fields of education, research, community service and the application of innovation. The signing of the MoU was carried out by Prof. Arif Satria, Chancellor of IPB University with Pamrihadi Wiraryo as President Director of PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya.

Prof. Arif Satria in his speech said that the food issue is a critical issue, especially about rice. The problem currently being faced is how to educate consumers and invest in economic scale product development.

“Once local products are developed, the economy will grow and the industry will develop instead of always depending on imported products. With this collaboration, it is hoped that the pattern of innovation development can continue to be carried out properly and can solve food problems in Indonesia," he said.

President Director of Food Station PT Tjipinang Jaya, Pamrihadi Wiraryo said that his party is currently not only moving downstream but has reached upstream. Food Station has now contracted farming of around 8200 hectares.

“This year we will do on farming or self-cultivation. Because the role of the Food Station itself, apart from reviewing food availability, it must also be able to control inflation," said Pamrihadi.

Thomas as the representative of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government who was also present gave a speech feeling that this cooperation agreement was the right thing and needed to be done. He hopes that, starting from small things like this, he can create national food independence.

“This is an extraordinary momentum to start food self-sufficiency in Indonesia. Therefore, it is hoped that the collaboration will not stop here but can be continuous, “he concluded.

Cooperation with PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya was also carried out with the Faculty of Human Ecology (Fema) of IPB University regarding the preparation of feasibility studies and recommendations for substitution of subsidized cheap food products for certain communities. (Lp/Rz)
