One Village One CEO Program is Very Strategic for Village Strengthening and Accelerating Indonesia’s Agricultural Transformation
In order to build a rural that is advanced in innovating, community empowerment efforts are intensively encouraged. Regarding this matter, Astra International together with the Ministry of Agricultural and the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration held the Kampung Berseri Astra and Desa Sejahtera Astra 2022 “Revitalization, Innovation, Sustainability of Villages”, (04/19).
Prof Arif Satria, Rector of IPB University was also invited as speaker. He warmly welcomed the signing of cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Astra International and IPB University. He said the Ministry of Agriculture had encouraged various homework.
According to him, one of them is the regeneration of farmers through the movement to raise millennial farmers in Indonesia. Astra has a strategic program that is a prosperous village and has spread throughout Inodnesia. IPB University also developed various activities to strengthen sociopreneurship through One Village One CEO (OVOC)
“ This program is very strategic for the strengthening of villages, especially in accelerating the transformation of technology 4.0” he explained.
He added, the acceleration of the transformation of Indonesian agriculture into modern agriculture 4.0 is a very crucial part to prosper the countryside. All classes of farmers are included with an inclusive pattern of agriculture. So that government, private and college cooperation becomes an inevitability.
“Innovations owned by IPB University can be developed and encouraged to be implemented in the field, especially in rural areas," he added. According to him, the countryside is the future of the nation and agriculture is a pillar of the national economy. In every time of crisis, agriculture always gets a positive value. This signal provides a clue that agriculture should be put forward in the national economy.
Prof. Drajat Martianto, Vice Rector for Education and Student Affairs of IPB University also said that students should be invited to contribute a lot to the development of the community in the village. One of them is through the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka channel. Students can apply their knowledge and realize their passion to build villages through village building projects.
"IPB University is very enthusiastic in facilitating students to contribute in building villages and realizing shared goals through the One Village One CEO program," he said. He believes that the synergy between the government, the private sector, and universities as well as the community is the key to the success of this empowerment program.
“The One Village One CEO program aims to develop agriculture in a more modern village. In its planning, it uses an empirical approach to explore the superior potential in the village. So that management can be sustainable on a science-based basis. The capacity of the community is also built so that the village can innovate according to the needs of the community," he said.
He explained that the number of students involved in recent years has increased. From this program, the participation of the younger generation can explore the potential of agricultural products in rural areas. Fresh and processed agricultural products can provide high added value and high export value.
"Moreover, Indonesia is facing the phenomenon of 'aging agriculture' where most of the agricultural workers are in their old age. Therefore, the younger generation must be involved," he said.
According to him, agriculture should be something interesting. Agriculture must be something that produces. Agriculture must be a classy job and must be able to present equality with other professional fields.
"So that it can increase the interest of young people while increasing the efficiency, effectiveness, of the processes carried out so that we can continue to be competitive," he explained. He added that this program received extraordinary appreciation from President Joko Widodo to be developed more widely. It is hoped that more villages will be touched by this program in order to realize the ideals of Indonesia's increasingly advanced agriculture. (MW/Zul) (IAAS/GHN)
