IPB University and Unpatti Establish Cooperation to Make Maluku a National Fish Barn

The Rector of IPB University signed a memorandum of understanding with Pattimura University (Unpatti) in Maluku some time ago. This collaboration is to improve and develop resource capabilities at Pattimura University and IPB University in the fields of education, research and community service as well as to implement the Freedom of Learning-Independence Campus (MBKM) policy.

The Rector of IPB University, Prof. Arif Satria said this collaboration was very strategic. According to him, Maluku should have become a national fish barn as part of the blue economy.
"This is what we must encourage and IPB University is ready to support Unpatti together to advance Maluku. Many alumni of IPB University have become lecturers at Unpatti and this is something that can strengthen collaboration and make it easier to realize it," he said.

Prof. Arif Satria also hopes that this collaboration can be realized in the form of the implementation of the Freedom of Learning-Independence Campus (MBKM) collaboration and joint research. "The most important thing is how our role as academics is to continue to advance the blue economy in Maluku," he added.

Unpatti Chancellor, Prof. MJ Saptenno in his speech also hoped that this collaboration could produce the best programs and could be implemented with a Cooperation agreement. “Unpatti will create a team to implement the collaboration with IPB University. We hope that Maluku's abundant natural resources can be useful and contribute positively to the community's economy,” he said.

According to him, maritime is an important aspect in Maluku that needs to be studied. In the future, Natuna and Maluku are targeted to become blue economy areas.
"Therefore, Unpatti as a scholar will provide strategic thinking for the provincial and district/city governments in Maluku. Not only for the development of natural resources in Maluku but also the outputs and outcomes that can be produced for the common interest. And I hope that IPB University will be involved in various joint research studies," he said. (AD/Zul) (IAAS/JUD)
