FPIK IPB University and Menjangan Mas Group Hold a Social Service in Bali


The Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) IPB University and Menjangan Mas Group held a social service in Pejarakan Village, Gerokgak District, Buleleng Regency, Bali, 23/4. This social service is in order to give happiness to the community ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 2022. Not only that, the social service also aims to foster optimism in facing local and national economic conditions that have not fully recovered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A total of 250 food packages were distributed on this occasion.

In his opening remarks, Pejarakan Village Head (Perbekel) I Made Astawan welcomed and thanked Menjangan Mas Group and IPB University for their concern for the villagers to welcome this year's Eid al-Fitr.
 
Gerokgak Sub-district Head Made Juartawan, in his speech, appreciated the presence of Menjangan Mas Group in Bali so far. Moreover, it is now present together with IPB University. He hopes that the presence of Menjangan Mas Group and IPB University can have an even more impact on regional economic development and social cultivation of the community.
 
The owner and founding mother of Menjangan Mas Group, Nelly Dewi Sohood Limantoro stated that this social service initiative was motivated by her concern about the rising prices of basic necessities before Eid. Not only that, this activity is a form of concern for the community, and has become a routine activity for companies engaged in shrimp farming since the 1980s in Pejarakan Village.
 
The President Director of Menjangan Mas Group, Janitra Limantoro in his speech explained that this social service is one of the company's other concerns for society and the environment. He admitted that his party had also paved village roads, planted mangroves, and provided assistance for traditional and religious ceremonies.
 
Janitra also said that this event was also a socialization to the community related to the declaration of the FPIK IPB University Field Research Station area in Pejarakan Village. The soft launching of the field station was carried out some time ago.
 
The Dean of FPIK IPB University, Dr Fredinan Yulianda in his remarks read by the Coordinator for Cooperation and Promotion of FPIK IPB University, Dr Irzal Effendi, stated that Menjangan Mas Group has a strong vision in developing fisheries and marine technology and innovation, environmental sustainability, community welfare and human Resource Development. This is the reason for IPB University as a partner in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education to the community. He explained that the research that will be carried out by lecturers and students of FPIK IPB University includes the development of smart mariculture and smart biofloc, as well as mangrove forest management.
 
"The developed technology and innovation will later be disseminated to the community, and it is hoped that it can become a profitable, competitive, and sustainable local business unit so that it can move the regional economy," said Dr. Irzal Effendi.
 
At the end of his written remarks, the Dean of FPIK IPB University also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Menjangan Mas Group for developing 24 units of floating net cages for the development of grouper and lobster cultivation, holding motorboats, facilitating mangrove research, and in the near future will build a laboratory. , research machines, biofloc tarpaulin tanks, and other supporting facilities which will later be used for research activities, practicums, Real Work Lectures (KKN) and other activities.
