IPB University Received Baznas Award 2022


Rector of IPB University, Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, SP, M.Si received Baznas Award 2022 in the 21st Baznas Anniversary event, (17/1) at the Golden Ballroom , The Sultan Hotel & Heritage. In the theme of event tittled “Becoming the Main Institution for the Welfare of the Ummah”, National Zakat Amil Agency (Baznas) gave an award to IPB University due to IPB University is considered active in organizing activities that support zakat literacy and collaborating in producing research related to zakat.

Prof. Noor Achmad, Head of Baznas said, standard scoring to give this award used National Zakat Index (IZN) and scoring also quantitative and qualitative assessments. Prof. Noor Achmad said that this award has involved more more than 300 figures and institutions with 184 winners. This year, awardee of Baznas increased sharply compared to previous year. "Baznas will also adhere to the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Pak Jokowi, to continue the strengthen of transparency, accountability, modernity, innovation and digitalization," he said.

Rector of IPB University, Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, SP, M.Si expressed his gratitude because IPB University received another award after last week his institution won seven awards (General Champion) in the 2021 Diktiristek award. "This time we received an award in the 2022 Baznas Award. Hopefully this award can be an encouragement to work better in the future, synergize with each other, innovate so that they can continue to inspire," he said. This achievement certainly cannot be separated from the role of two work space at IPB University who are very concerned in this area, which is Center for Islamic Business and Economic Studies (CI-BEST) and the Department of Islamic Economics.

Responding to this achievement, the Head of CI-BEST IPB University, Dr. Lukman M Baga said, "Alhamdulillah, hopefully the 2022 BAZNAS Award that IPB University receives will be a trigger for motivation to increase the intensity and quality of research and community service that CI-BEST does related to optimizing zakat for the welfare of the people."

This achievement is also inseparable from the role and contribution of the Department of Islamic Economics at IPB University. "Alhamdulillah, we received this award, and this is a trigger for us to continue to develop a sharia economic education system that has an impact on the progress of the nation, including zakat. Alhamdulillah, currently there are quite a lot of zakat research conducted by lecturers and students, and insya Allah we always maintain the quality," he said. He further said that zakat is one of the pillars that Allah has prepared to become an important instrument in the struggle to build civilization.

"Proud to be part of IPB University which is always concerned with the struggle to build civilization, improve and improve the economy of the nation and state as so far. It is not surprising that IPB University received this proud award. I am sure that many zakat figures will continue to be born from IPB University both from lecturers and students.
